Bible is probably selection of single stories which were selected and put into one set to support Roman power elite agenda. There are similar "gospels" written today about Jesus, which could be collected into "New Bible". This could correspond much more to our rational world view compared to what was agreed when current christian doctrine was established.

Bible is not a book in origin. Old Testament is just a mix of VERY old folklore which often does not make any sense. To take it seriously you must be very blinded. But this is the main point - blind faith and no questioning.
